The Salvation Army Protects The Integrity Of Data And Global Brand With Lumension's Data Protection Solution
London, UK (PRWEB) March 5, 2009 -- As one of the largest providers of social care in the UK (second only to the Government), The Salvation Army has staff working across the country in a range of drug addiction centres, elderly care homes and Salvation Army centres. A centrally managed endpoint security solution (http://www.lumension.com/endpoint-security?rpLangCode=1&rpMenuId=121434&rpLeadSourceId=2021) was required to support its 2,000 endpoints and 2,500 staff. In a new IT security solution video (http://www.lumension.com/viewDocument.jsp?id=152929&rpLeadSourceId=2021), Martin Croft, Head of Corporate Systems at The Salvation Army, describes how Lumension's Data Protection solution (http://www.lumension.com/data-protection?rpLangCode=1&rpMenuId=118395&rpLeadSourceId=2021) allowed his team to more easily and effectively manage the organisation's IT network without having to physically visit each site.
Croft explains that Lumension's technology gives his team the advantage of auditing all data that is uploaded or downloaded from authorised USBs. This makes it much easier to audit for data protection and compliance; it also allows for more accurate insight into the data that is being transferred on and off the network.
"By deploying Lumension's technology, we have been able to buy ourselves peace of mind," comments Croft in the video. "I now know that out of our 4,500 users, I have 498 people who have been given the privilege of using removable USB storage devices, and we know the sorts of devices they're plugging into the PCs and we know the volume of data that's being transferred in and out of the organisation. If you're aware of what's going on in the organisation, that's much better than everything being a mystery."
The United Kingdom-based Salvation Army chose Lumension's Device Control (http://www.lumension.com/data-protection/usb-security-protection.jsp?rpLangCode=1&rpMenuId=150824&rpLeadSourceId=2021) and Application Control to mitigate the challenges of data loss by controlling what devices could connect to their endpoints, and what data could be transferred to those devices.
